Reflections On "Sadness Sunday" Sermon

"Sadness Sunday" during our Inside Out summer series at Shiloh was quite significant. We did deep work on exploring sadness from a faith perspective and through the story of the prophet, Elijah, from scripture. In Elijah, we see a mighty man of God who performed many acts of power by the will of God, but who also at least at one point in his journey struggled with deep sadness.

I preached a sermon entitled, "Strength Through Your Sadness."

As blessed as I was from the worship and sermon, I was deeply moved by the time of reflection after the service. I invited a handful of members to share their thoughts on the message and what they received from God during proclamation. The four women who shared were quite courageous in the vulnerability and offered up some tips related to surviving or even thriving in sad seasons.
